Connecting the Past With the Present

WELCOME!!

2025 NEW YEAR'S MESSAGE FROM Fay Bailey-greggory - president

DEAR PAST STUDENTS OF OUR BELOVED HOLM ON THE HILL

As we embrace this brand-new year, I want to extend my warmest wishes to you and your families. The dawn of a new year always brings fresh hope, renewed energy, and countless opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Reflecting on the past year, I am filled with immense pride for all we have accomplished together as a community. Your unwavering support, dedication, and passion for our alma mater have been the driving force behind our success. Whether it was through your participation in events, contributions to initiatives, or support for our younger generations, you have exemplified the spirit of excellence and unity.

We faced deep sorrow as we mourned the loss of several cherished members of our community, including “our dedicated bus driver and several beloved past students who left us too soon.” Their contributions to our alma mater and the lives they touched will forever remain a part of our legacy. We honor their memories and extend our deepest condolences to their families and loved ones.

Despite these heartbreaking losses, 2024 also reminded us of the incredible resilience and unity that defines the Holmwood family.

Despite the difficulties, we also found reasons to celebrate, from academic achievements, sports victories, to cultural activities. Our students and staff demonstrated strength, determination, and a commitment to excellence. Their efforts remind us that even in adversity, we can achieve remarkable things when we work together. One Major achievement in 2024, was the launching of a Central Chapter, which we hope will be the nucleus of this association.

As we enter 2025, let us carry forward the lessons of the past year with strength and purpose. Let us honor the memories of those we lost by fostering the values they held dear and building an even stronger and more united community.

I invite each of you to stay connected and engaged, whether by mentoring students, supporting initiatives, or simply being present as a part of this enduring legacy. Together, we can overcome challenges and ensure that the future of Holmwood remains bright.

Among our key initiatives for 2025 are projects aimed at enhancing the lives of our students and ensuring continued excellence. These include:

  • Acquiring a New      School Bus: Reliable transportation is essential for our student’s success, and      we are committed to raising the necessary funds to purchase a new bus to      serve the school community. We hope to raise all the funds needed for the      well-needed bus.
  • Strengthening      Alumni Mentorship Programs: Your expertise and experiences      are invaluable in guiding current students toward success. We plan to      expand opportunities for alumni engagement through mentorship sessions and      career guidance.
  • Improving      Facilities and Resources: Projects such as upgrading labs.
  • Community-Building      Events: Reconnecting with our alumni through reunions, fundraisers, and      virtual networking events will strengthen the bonds that make our      association so impactful.

Thank you for being an integral part of this incredible journey. Let us approach 2025 with optimism, unity, and the unwavering spirit that defines our alma mater. Wishing you and your families a year filled with peace, prosperity, and joy.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our alma mater and for being a vital part of this extraordinary journey.

Passing of the Baton

Message from the outgoing President

My fellow Holmwood Alumni:

It is a good thing to remember our roots, and to support the institutions that helped to nurture, guide, and shape our lives. This includes our homes, the church, community, and very importantly, our schools. Holmwood Technical High School, like many other educational institutions, needs the ongoing support of its alumni and friends. It is for this reason that I and many other past students have been and continue to be in service through leadership and participation in the Holmwood Past Students’ Association (HPSA).

As I demit office, I take this opportunity to thank you for your support over my five years as President of the HPSA. Special thanks to my very active and supportive team of IEB executive members including the Chapter Presidents. I think we can be proud of our accomplishments in delivering on our mandate over the period. On behalf of the team, I humbly acknowledge all who sent us warm thank you messages. I also acknowledge the important collaboration from the Chairman and Principal of Holmwood, which is a necessary ingredient for the HPSA to impact school development.

Congratulations to our new President Fay Bailey-Gregory and the newly elected team! I assure you of my continued contribution in the role Immediate Past President.

Let's stay together as we continue to strengthen alumni collaboration, and ongoing support to our beloved alma mater Holmwood Technical High School!

Blessings!

Message from the incoming President

Dear Esteemed Alumni,

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. It is with a sense of honor and enthusiasm that I assume the role of President of the Past Student Association of Holmwood Technical High School.

Our association has a rich history of fostering connections, celebrating achievements, and giving back to the institutions that have shaped us into the individuals we are today. As we embark on this new journey together, I am excited to continue building upon our foundation and exploring new avenues for growth.

First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my predecessors for their tireless dedication and commitment to our alumni community. Their efforts have laid the groundwork for the impactful work we will undertake during my tenure.

One of my primary goals is to strengthen the bond between our esteemed alumni and the institutions that played a pivotal role in our personal and professional development. We will work closely with our alma mater to create opportunities for mentorship, networking, and collaboration. By sharing our experiences and wisdom, we can guide the next generation of students toward success and help shape their futures.

Our association will also focus on giving back to our communities. Through philanthropic initiatives, volunteer work, and charitable contributions, we can make a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate. Together, we have the power to create meaningful change and leave a lasting legacy of compassion and generosity.

I encourage you all to continue to actively participate in the association's endeavors. Your insights, ideas, and contributions are invaluable to our success. By working together, we can uphold the values that define our association and contribute meaningfully to the world around us.

Please keep an eye on your inbox for updates on upcoming events and initiatives. I am eager to hear your thoughts, suggestions, and aspirations for our association. Feel free to reach out to me directly at holmwoodpsa@gmail.com with your feedback or ideas.

Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as your President and am excited about the incredible journey that lies ahead. Together, we can continue to make a difference and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Let's Stay Together.

Fay Bailey Gregory
